Uzbek football is the dominant Central Asian football culture, anchored by Tashkent's club structure and the national team's regular AFC presence. Stadium investment has accelerated since the 2010s, partly driven by national-team ambition and partly by the development of Tashkent as a regional sporting hub. Every stadium below is on the map.
1. Milliy Stadium (Bunyodkor Stadium), Tashkent
Capacity: approximately 34,000. Uzbekistan's national stadium and the home of FC Bunyodkor, opened in 2012. The modern enclosed bowl is one of Central Asia's best-designed football grounds and hosts the national team and major AFC Champions League fixtures. The stadium replaced the older Pakhtakor Markaziy as Tashkent's primary venue.
2. Pakhtakor Markaziy Stadium, Tashkent
Capacity: approximately 35,000. The traditional home of FC Pakhtakor, Uzbekistan's most decorated club, in central Tashkent. The ground was significantly rebuilt during the Soviet era and again in the modern Uzbek period. Pakhtakor's 1979 squad — most of whom died in an air crash near Dniprodzerzhynsk — is commemorated at the ground.
3. JAR Stadium, Tashkent
Capacity: approximately 12,000. Tashkent's third major football venue, used by smaller Tashkent clubs and as a training and reserve facility for the larger clubs. The stadium has hosted second-tier matches and youth international fixtures.
4. Almazar Stadium, Tashkent
Capacity: approximately 12,000. Another Tashkent ground used in the broader Uzbek Super League rotation. The Almazar area has been part of Tashkent's football geography for decades.
5. Lokomotiv Stadium, Tashkent
Capacity: 8,000. FC Lokomotiv Tashkent's home in the railway-workers' quarter. Lokomotiv won the Uzbek Super League title in 2016, 2017, and 2018 — a brief but significant break from Pakhtakor and Bunyodkor's traditional dominance.
6. Surkhon Stadium, Termez
Capacity: approximately 12,500. Termez sits on the Afghan border in southern Uzbekistan, and the Surkhon Stadium serves the regional club FC Surkhon Termez. The southern location places the ground in a different climatic context — summer matches are played in significant heat.
7. Sogdiana Stadium, Jizzakh
Capacity: approximately 12,000. The Jizzakh ground hosts FC Sogdiana and represents the spread of Uzbek football to provincial cities. Jizzakh's geographic position in central Uzbekistan makes it a logical second tier of the country's football map.
8. Olmazor Stadium, Andijan
Capacity: approximately 14,000. Andijan in the Fergana Valley is one of Uzbekistan's most populous cities and hosts FC Andijan. The Fergana Valley is densely populated and produces a higher share of Uzbek football talent than its area would suggest.
9. Markaziy Stadion, Namangan
Capacity: approximately 15,000. Namangan's central stadium serves FC Navbahor Namangan. Navbahor are one of Uzbekistan's traditional clubs and the ground has hosted AFC Cup fixtures.

Capacity: approximately 12,000. The historic city of Bukhara has a football stadium that serves the regional club and connects football to one of Central Asia's most significant historical cities.
The Uzbek Super League
The Uzbek Super League is Central Asia's strongest domestic football competition, with Pakhtakor and Bunyodkor as the historically dominant clubs. The league has 12 to 14 teams depending on the season and runs from spring to autumn. Uzbekistan qualifies regularly for AFC Champions League knockout rounds.
The national team and AFC Asian Cup
Uzbekistan have qualified for every AFC Asian Cup since 1996 and have reached the quarterfinals multiple times. The national team has come close to a first FIFA World Cup qualification on several occasions, with the 2026 cycle representing another serious attempt.
